Eligibility criteria to register a .EU domain name.

The following categories of companies, Organisations and individuals will be able to register a .EU domain:

• Undertakings having their registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the EU;
• Organisations established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law;
• Natural persons resident within the European Community.

How can book my .EU domain name before some body else do ?

Yes. There will be "sunrise period", before regular open registration. At this time qualified company organization and individual, can apply for the registration of the .EU domain name for which they are eligible.

The sunrise period will be a two phases process each of two months.

Phase One: Only domain names that correspond with:

• The full name of a public body.
• The name by which a public body is commonly know.
• If applicable, the territory which is governed by a public body.
• registered community or national trademarks, may be applied for by the public body or holder/licensee of the trademark

• the names listed in phase one.
• other rights that are protected under the national law of the member state where they are held such as:
• company names
• business identifiers
• distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic work
• unregistered trademarks
• trade names

Please note applicants will have to provide legal documentary proof for eligibility to pre-register .EU domain name. Appointed Validation Agent by registry will check application. This is only applicable for pre-registration period not after opening of live registration.

My company is outside of European Union but I do have a EU community trademark. Can I register .EU domain name?

No you can not, as of now EC Regulation No 733/2002 specify that only fallowing categories of companies, organisations and individuals can register a .EU domain:

• Undertakings with registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
• European Community organizations, without prejudice to the application of national law;
• European Community Natural persons & resident
